Girls and Emotions

Here's a miscellaneous recommendation that Lisa Maki sent to us:

Girls struggle a lot with their emotions. This is something that men will never understand about us. While they can just brush off their hurts easily or not even be affected by the little things that affect us, we women tend to nurture our hurt feelings.

I don't like going through my emotional roller coaster ride. It distracts me and makes me feel weak. So, I was determined to find out and discover a way to deal with this "issue". Through research and learning from other women, I discovered my own ways of dealing with my emotions, which I want to share with all of you.

1. I have my own spot in the bedroom where I go when I struggle with my emotions. It is a place of comfort for me. I stay there to process what I am going through.

2. I process my emotions by rewinding what happened and what triggered it. Then I separate what is just my perception and conclusion, and what it really is.

3. I do things that distract me from what I am feeling at the moment. Normally, I focus on my work or do things that will not require much thinking such as washing dishes, cleaning the room, etc.

4. I express my feelings through writing. I have written so many poems, insights, articles, and even a book, just because of all these crazy emotions.

5. I get out of the house and walk or run. Of course this doesn't work when the weather is bad.

6. I listen to some instrumental, soothing music.

7. I cry out to God and vent out everything on Him. He never complains and is always there not only to listen to me but He also allows me to just be myself.

8. Having girlfriends help a lot, specially those who will be there to listen to you and just be there to comfort you.

9. Shouting helps, for as long as you are just alone.

10. Going out with a girlfriend for some coffee gives me not only a "time out" but refreshes me as well.

So there is my list. You may want to add what works for you.  (Leave a comment below!)
